About the Role:

OutRival is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to join the team and lead the design and development of our AI Platform for Conversational AI Agents. In this role, you'll drive technical excellence, research & development and experimentation by aligning these strategic initiatives to the overall technical strategy.

If you have over 8 years of backend and machine learning experience, a strong background in implementing AI solutions, and experience with LangChain, LangSmith, RAG, Multi-agency designs, and R&D projects, we'd love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and the implementation of Conversation AI Agents, optimize RAG pipelines for accuracy and design agent architectures. Especially find innovative ways to improve LLM systems by optimizing for latency, quality and cost.
  • Design and develop custom machine learning models and algorithms, addressing complex challenges in natural language processing, speech recognition, and conversational AI.
  • Be accountable for aligning the software and systems in your area to the overall technical strategy, making tradeoffs where appropriate
  • Collaborate with the Product Team to scope and implement new AI/LLM-powered features
  • Work autonomously to conduct AI-related spikes and R&D projects to explore new technologies and solutions
  • Be our expert in performance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Implement security best practices to safeguard our applications and data
  • Partner with customers on the implementation of our AI platform

What you bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in the role of back-end software engineer and machine learning
  • Significant contributions to open-source AI/ML projects
  • Hands on experience implementing AI/ML projects (fine-tuning, prompt engineering, multi-agent frameworks, LLMs, Conversational AI)
  • Experience with LangChain, LangSmith, RAG, Multi-agency designs
  • Experience in conducting R&D projects and technological explorations
  • Experience with Python & JS stack: node.js
  • Strong understanding of NLP, ML, and LLM fundamentals
  • Fluent in English

This role is based in Miami, Florida and the person is expected to be in office 5 days a week. Our office is located in the Miami Arts & Entertainment District. We’re open to candidates already in the Miami area or those willing to relocate there.

Will be a plus:

  • You have experience doing research around AI, machine learning and cognitive architectures
  • DevOps/Cloud experience: AWS, EC2, RDS, Docker, Concepts of Kubernetes, Terraform
  • Experience with GraphQL, Prisma ORM, Apollo Client, and Apollo Server
  • Experience working in architect positions
  • Nice to have: experience in early-stage startup programs (e.g. Y Combinator, 500 Startups, Techstars, The Alchemist, Thiel Fellowship, etc)
