About the role
OutRival is looking for our VP of Engineering to join the team in Miami, Florida. This role will have extraordinary impact on our AI PaaS product and business. If you have early start-up experience, are passionate about Generative AI and have experience in the creation, iteration and scaling of AI Agent products, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities & Scope of work
- Responsible for shaping and executing our AI and Engineering strategy, ensuring the development and implementation of new and innovative solutions that drive our business forward
- Involved in every aspect of the product development process, from brainstorming and ideation to production launch and ongoing development
- Lead efforts to optimize engineering solutions for scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Ensure the security of our data, APIs, and services by maintaining best security practices in specifications and implementations.
- Oversee the certification process surrounding SOC 2, HITRUST, and HIPAA compliance.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning, emphasizing our OutRival values in day-to-day interactions.
- Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing team of AI engineers, backend and full stack engineers to create a leading AI Builder & API.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends, proposing innovative solutions to enhance applications.
- Act as a thought leader within OutRival and the broader AI industry, contributing to technical blogs, conferences, and community engagement
- Ability to balance being strategic and seeing the big picture with the details and work on day-to-day tasks
- Collaborate and partner with the OutRival leadership team to enable the success of our business and team.
Requirements & What They Bring
- Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing AI initiatives, generative AI products, machine learning, and data engineering.
- Experience building developer tools and APIs
- Proven track record of leading and delivering complex projects from conception to production
- Deep and extensive understanding of AI and ML, GenerativeAI, software architecture, design principles, and best practices
- Experience successfully leading and enabling an Engineering team
- Experience in a startup that has grown from early stage
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Display high emotional intelligence and a growth mindset
- Fluent in English
This role is based in Miami, Florida and the person is expected to be in office 5 days a week. Our office is located in the Miami Arts & Entertainment District.
Nice to have
- Experience as a founder or the first Engineering/Tech team member in an AI startup
- Prior experience with the following tools and technologies would be a plus:
- Designing Cognitive Architectures
- LangChain and LangGraph
- VectorDBs
- Building AI Agents, Familiar with the REACT Architecture Pattern
- Creating systems for Evaluation & Testing of LLMs & Agents
